2024 Cap Rate Notice

The Appraisal District is giving public notice of the capitalization rate to be used each year to appraise property receiving an exemption under Section 11.1825 of the property tax code for organizations constructing or rehabilitating low-income housing: property not previously exempt. 2024 Low-income housing apartment capitalization rate: 7.5%-10.0%

Truth in Taxation

Visit Texas.gov/PropertyTaxes to find a link to your local property tax database on which you can easily access information regarding your property taxes, including information regarding the amount of taxes that each entity that taxes your property will impose if the entity adopts its proposed tax rate. Your local property tax database will be updated regularly during August and September as local elected officials propose and adopt the property tax rates that will determine how much you pay in property taxes.

Tax Rate Information

 

The duties of the appraisal district include:

  • The determination of market value of taxable property
  • The administration of exemptions and special valuations authorized by the local entities and the State of Texas

 

Tax rates and ultimately the amount of taxes levied on property are determined by governing bodies of each of the taxing authorities.

Mineral, utility, and industrial accounts are appraised for the district by Pritchard & Abbott, Inc. in Fort Worth, Texas.

Real estate and personal property accounts are appraised locally by the district.
